Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Rusman Heryawan recognize Indonesia’s agricultural research budget is still low compared to other countries in Southeast Asia. Research budget at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) has reached Rp1 trillion.
“I agree with the views Mr. Vice President, we fully research budget is still low, compared to Thailand which is incredible,” said Rusman Heriawan in Jakarta, Wednesday, January 11, 2012.
According to Rusman, if the agricultural research budget of the viability of sustainable agricultural productivity can be guaranteed. Productivity and agriculture are two things that should not be separated.
So far, research results (Kementan) at least has spawned more than 100 varieties of rice seedlings with different specifications. Kementan, he continued, is now the focus in the development of seeds that are resistant and adaptive to the changing seasons.
